As a non-profit, public charitable organization, the Agriculture & Food Systems Institute collaborates with experts to respond to relevant issues that have a global impact through applied research, capacity building, education, and outreach.

Our Work

All our work is for public benefit and focuses on contributing to long-term solutions. Our primary areas of activity include biosafety capacity building, environmental risk assessment, sustainable nutrition security, and food and feed safety assessment.

Biosafety Capacity Building

We develop risk assessment resources and provide training to scientists, risk assessors, and regulators, to promote science-based risk assessments of products of biotechnology.

Environmental Risk Assessment

We are committed to improving systematic approaches to inform understanding of plausible risks associated with the use of gene drive strategies and maximizing the value of data.

Sustainable Nutrition Security

We improve nutrition and health through cross-disciplinary research, focusing on food composition and dietary intake data, open data and methods harmonization, and drivers of food choice.

Food & Feed Safety Assessment

We provide information resources and capacity building activities for scientists, regulators, and the public, focusing on the safety assessment of foods and feeds derived from GE plants.
